Children and Youth

Church School resumes September 10

Registration for Church School begins September 10. Registration will be in the parish hall from 9:45 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. for Nursery (ages 0-3), Preschool (ages 3-4), Kindergarten-1st Grade, 2nd Grade-3rd Grade, 4th Grade-5th Grade and the QUEST Class for grades 6-9. Please plan to join us. It's going to be a great year!

You can sign up for Church School any Sunday. Nursery care is always available for our smallest parishioners and children’s worship and church school classes are provided for children 3 years old through the 5th grade. QUEST, our class for 6th-9th graders, gathers every Sunday morning to share a game, a time to review the week, and a lesson, before they join the second half of adult worship.

Classes are offered September through May during the 10:15 a.m. service for ages preschool through 9th grade. Please plan to have your children join us! It's going to be a great year! You can register your children any Sunday downstairs in the church school area or in the QUEST room.

Nursery

Children are always welcome in adult worship. There are toy and book baskets at the back of the church. For those who would prefer to use the nursery, it is available for infants and toddlers during the 10:15 a.m. service on Sundays. The nursery is in the Church School area below the parish hall. Ask an usher for directions. Our nursery workers are thoroughly trained and certified in the Safeguarding God's Children program. We invite parents to leave their cell number in the nursery so a nursery worker can contact you via text message, if needed, during a service.

Church School for Preschool - 9th grade

Church school programs are available September-May during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service for preschool (ages 3-4), and grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5. You can register your children any Sunday downstairs in the church school area.

The QUEST class, for grades 6-9

QUEST, for 6th-9th graders, is offered during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service September-May, in the upstairs room across from the choir room. This class offers time for kids to get to know one another and discuss topics related to their faith. The class joins adult worship in time for Eucharist each week.

Imagine being part of a pre-literate culture where sacred memory was passed through storytelling around a campfire. Who are we? Why are we here? What is God like? How should we act in the world? Storytelling has always been a way to explore these essential human questions.

This year in Youth Ministry, we're looking at the Bible as our campfire, the place where, for generations, people have gathered to tell the stories and ask these fundamental questions. In QUEST, each week we'll gather around our virtual campfire and share in this storytelling tradition. While in Youth Group and Confirmation, we'll explore faith-formation questions about the Bible, creeds, other world religions, and ethics.

You can register your children any Sunday in the QUEST room.

Confirmation Class for 7th - 8th grade

Students are invited to start Confirmation beginning in 7th grade (and older).

We've been working on a redesign of our Confirmation program. Instead of a stand-alone three-year class, Confirmation will be a two-year process with an emphasis on connecting with parish life. The following elements will be part of our new Confirmation program:

  • participation in youth group
  • service in and outside the church
  • relationship with a sponsor
  • participation in a Confirmation retreat

Please contact P.J. Willett for more information, .

Youth Group for 6th - 12th grade

Youth Group for middle and high school usually meets the third Sunday of the month from 6-7:30 pm.  We'll meet for fellowship, pizza, and discussion.

We have participated in service projects and in various outings. Anyone in grades 6 to 12 is welcome.

Also this year, with high school youth group, we are going to team up with our friends at St. Paul Lutheran and First Presbyterian for a monthly event -- watch the calendar, Spirited Times, and bulletin for details.

Our Youth Group leader is P.J. Willett. Contact P.J. through the church office at 542-2167 or  and see our calendar for dates. You can also email P.J. to sign up for the Youth Ministry e-newsletter to keep you updated.
