Alms Sunday on February 5 focuses on Prison and Reentry Ministries
Holy Spirit’s involvement with those who are or have been incarcerated has been long and evolving. For years, Deacon Doug Anderson has traveled to Deer Lodge to participate in on-site activities with prisoners and partners, most recently with the Freedom in Christ ministry. And parishioners Bob Deaton and Zeke Campfield are working alongside returning citizens and local leaders through Missoula Interfaith Collaborative’s Welcome Back and Partners for Reintegration, programs that work to open doors and strengthen support systems for those now released from prison to make a way forward in Missoula and the surrounding area. With 17,000 Montana residents behind bars or under criminal justice supervision, what is learned here can ripple across the Diocese and change the lives of returning citizens and volunteers alike.
