Traveler’s Rest State Park Tour, Saturday, August 13, from 1 to 2 pm:  Join the Creation Care team for a tour of historic Traveler’s Rest State Park.  This location along Lolo Creek has long been used by indigenous people as a place to camp and gather. When a Shoshone guide led Lewis and Clark to the location, the expedition rested for several days before they started across the Bitterroot Mountains. They also stopped on their way back east and divided the corps to explore multiple routes through Montana. The site is the only campsite along the route where the exact location of the camp has been verified. In 1877 the Nez Perce tribe also passed through Traveler’s Rest as they fled the US Army.

Join us as a staff member from the park provides us with a tour of this lovely and historic site. They will also focus on the topic of native plants, which the Creation Care team recommends for landscaping your property. Native plants are adapted to thrive in this climate and to survive local insects and diseases. Many have medicinal and food uses.
