Emmaus Campus Ministry News, February 2014

Emmaus Worship: Every Wednesday, at UCC church. (405 University Ave.) All are welcome!

 

Sundays, 6:00-8:00pm: Engaging our Faith: interactive conversations around life and faith.

 

The Well: Our mid-20’s to mid-30’s young adult group: Painting the Stars: a 7-week study of evolution, science and theology: every Saturday at 10am Feb 15th-March 29th (brunch is included!!)

@ Emmaus House (532 University Avenue)

 

Winter Retreat: Feb. 7-9: At Georgetown Lake and Discovery Ski Area. Open to all UM students and other young adults. Join us for a weekend of sledding, skiing, ice fishing, and relaxing with good friends. Cost is $20

 

Emmaus Lunch: Wednesday, February 19: Professor Ruth Vanita, Liberal Studies at UM, “Hinduism, an Introduction” Open to faculty, clergy, staff, students, and the community. 12noon -1:30pm (Lunch Provided) 

Emmaus Lunch: Rev. Rob Spalliatsos, priest at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church: An introduction to Orthodox Christianity: Theology, tradition and practice. Wednesday, March 19th at 12noon

 

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner to fight Malaria; Tuesday, March 4th at Atonement Lutheran Church: 5:30-7pm. Put on by Emmaus students to raise funds for the ELCA Malaria Campaign. Cost is $10/person or $25/family and menu includes pancakes, fruit, sausage/bacon, juice and coffee. Emmaus received a Sorenson Family Foundation grant to pay for supplies and to match all funds raised for this event. (up to $5,000). All church members, families, students and friends are most welcome!!

 

Vancouver, BC Spring Break Service Trip March 28-April 6: Cost is $200: Exploring culture and religion, learn about community organizing, explore issues of racism, diversity, and immigration, and do hands-on service projects. Info meeting on Sunday, Feb. 23rd at 8pm.

 

Emmaus Needs: A nice couch for an upstairs apartment; a sponsor for a student to go on our spring break trip.
