The Rt. Rev. Marty Stebbins

Pray without ceasing.  Paul’s quote in his first letter to the Thessalonians is undergirded by Jesus’ parable of the widow and the unjust judge.  In that parable, the power differential is unsurmountable between the two.  Yet that does not stop the widow from fearlessly and constantly pleading her case.    Her endurance and determination finally win her justice.  Jesus uses the parable to teach us about prayer.  Prayer, a conversation between the praying person and God, is not something taken lightly or used intermittently.  We are called to pray without ceasing.  This takes endurance and determination without fear.  The power differential between us and God is unsurmountable, yet God says that we are to pray constantly, to plead our case before God without fear.  Justice will be served.  (Click below to continue reading.)
