Food for Thought: Upcoming Book Study

Starting Saturday, January 24, join Sara Streeter and Carla Mettling for a five-week journey into the world of food, culture, and conscious choices. Our winter book study, Food for Thought, will explore two thought-provoking works:

  • Mark Bittman’s Animal, Vegetable, Junk — tracing how humanity's food practices have evolved from hunter-gatherers to modern junk-food consumers, and how these shifts have shaped societies.
  • Sophie Egan’s How to Be a Conscious Eater — a practical guide to making food choices that care for the planet, farmers, animals, and ourselves.

When & Where

  • Dates: Saturdays, January 24 – February 21
  • Time: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Location: Guild Room

Participants are encouraged to get the books and begin reading ahead of time.

Please let us know that you are interested in joining the book study by emailing Sara Streeter at
