Act with Mercy and Compassion - Soft Landing Missoula
Holy Spirit is being offered the opportunity to show that God is fully present in this world, it is an opportunity to provide a moment of grace and opportunity, it is our opportunity to Act with Mercy and Compassion. All the while, we will have fun and educate ourselves. These are volunteer opportunities for one of the organizations that we are considering − Soft Landing Missoula.
Soft Landing has many opportunities to provide volunteer services. Specifically, there are opportunities to:
- be kitchen helpers for United We Eat - cooking alongside immigrant chefs and professional kitchen staff;
- help in the Summer Youth Programs for 4th-12th graders;
- volunteer in their community center, welcoming newcomers and allies, organizing their donation room, a welcome desk attendant;
- help with monthly women's swim night;
- drivers’ education tutor, much needed;
- citizenship tutor - helping migrants study for their citizenship test;
- serve on “The Rolodex" - a phone list of individuals able to provide help in an emergency;
- And many others.
The needs are great and many with a wonderful organization; but the most important gift that we will both give and get is a relationship and understanding of a world that eludes us on a daily basis.
