Supporting the Seasons of Life at Holy Spirit with a Planned Gift
With the arrival of spring many of us are excited to see new signs of life all around us with the trees starting to bud and tulips poking out of the ground. The life of the church is similar in that way, with the changing liturgical seasons and new members bringing fresh life and ideas to our church community.
Why is it important to make a planned gift to Holy Spirit? Planned giving to the church is one of the most important ways to ensure the church can not only withstand challenging times but thrive in any season. A planned gift supports the long-term sustainability and financial well-being of the church and its programs and makes the church’s plan for its financial future possible.
A planned gift also establishes a way for a congregant to provide for family members while remembering the church. A gift is a great way to express your values and the importance of the church in your life alongside your family and other causes you care deeply about.
Planning giving also gives donors more control over their gift and provides the opportunity to make a deliberative choice about the ultimate disposition of a gift. In comparison to an annual gift, a planned gift is usually part of a legal contract, such as an estate plan or donor advised fund. It often enables the donor to provide more for his or her family and to make a larger gift than thought possible. It can also reduce tax obligations for a donor or their heirs, depending on the way the gift is structured.
Anyone can leave a planned gift to Holy Spirit. Planned giving is not just for the wealthy. All personally meaningful gifts, regardless of amount, are valued equally.
The number one reason congregants do not leave a planned gift to their church is that no one ever asked. We prayerfully invite you to reflect on the possibility of sharing a planned gift to Holy Spirit and to take the first step to make your planned gift a reality.
Who Can Help: Please contact the church office or visit with Rev. Gretchen or Rev. Terri with any questions you may have regarding planned giving options. An estate attorney or financial advisor may also be helpful as you consider these options.
