Weddings
Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant between two people in the presence of God. In the Episcopal Church it is required that one person, at least, of the couple must be a baptized Christian. There are additional guidelines for weddings, some of which are mandated by the canon law of the Episcopal Church. Five sessions of premarital preparation with the rector are required by national church guidelines.
Please contact one of our co-rectors, the Rev. Terri Ann Grotzinger or the Rev. Gretchen Strohmaier, to discuss wedding preparation and policies, as well as available dates. Read more about our wedding guidelines.
Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant (including Same-Sex Couples)
The Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant is a Rite of the Episcopal Church offered for same-sex or heterosexual couples – an important lifelong, monogamous commitment similar to but not the same as marriage. It is offered as a solemn and public covenant in the presence of God and with the commitment of support from the community gathered. In the Episcopal Church, it is required that at least one of the parties must be a baptized Christian.
Five sessions of pre-covenant preparation with the rector are required by diocesan guidelines. Please contact one of our co-rectors, the Rev. Terri Ann Grotzinger or the Rev. Gretchen Strohmaier, to discuss what this rite involves, as well as available dates.
