Citizen: Faithful Discipleship in a Partisan World
I discovered this very insightful book during my summer reading and would like to share a conversation about it this fall with others who are interested. It is written by C. Andrew Doyle, the ninth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and I quote the following from the back cover to help spark your interest:
“An alternative to both apathy and anger; Citizen is a call to discover civic hope. ‘Follow Jesus,’ Bishop Doyle urges in a winsome and compelling way, and you’ll find yourself mending God’s Garden—God’s home—that is our shared world.” –Miroslav Volf, director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture, and author of Flourishing: Why We Need Religion in a Globalized World.
Betsy Holmquist and Terri Ann Grotzinger will lead the discussion on three Thursday afternoons from 1-2 p.m., September 19, 26, and October 3. Books are available at the church office or online through Amazon; it is available in hard copy or as an ebook. RSVP by calling (406) 542-2167 or emailing office@holyspiritmissoula.org.
