A Note from the Rector: July 2022
Dear Friends,
In Remembrance:
I wanted to update you a bit on the ever-changing landscape that is our parish life. Many of you know Leigh Ann Bekemeyer and knew Dr. William Bernard "Bill" Bekemeyer, her husband, who died on June 19 of this year. A Celebration of Life is planned for Bill at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, July 9 at Missoula Alliance Church, 100 East Foss Court, Missoula, Montana. Masks are requested for in-person attendance for the safety of all. The service will be followed by a reception at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church at about 11:45 a.m. All are invited to attend.
A Memorial service is also planned for Robert "Bob" Tromly, who died on July 4th. The service for Bob will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church with a reception following in the Parish Hall. Masks are encouraged.
Please remember their families in your prayers and may God's peace and grace remain with them now and in the days and months ahead.
The 80th General Convention of the Episcopal Church begins this week: July 8 - 11 in Baltimore, Maryland. The entire convention has been shortened to four days due to Covid concerns and work has been underway online for months so that the time can be used for legislative rather than committee work. I invite you to go online and see what's happening: what topics are showng up in various resolutions; what the House of Deputies (elected lay and clergy delegates from each diocese) and the House of Bishops are discussing about the resolutions; and to get a sense of how the Episcopal Church makes prayerful and well considered decisions that apply to our joint life together across dioceses in the Episcopal Church. All worship services and legislative sessions for the four days will be livestreamed on the GC80 Media Hub, and the daily schedule of legislative activities can be found at vbinder.net as well. For example, type on your Search Engine line About the 80th General Convention of the Episcopal Church; then hit search. Click on the subject that comes up by the same name. Read the information provided and them scroll down to the Search Box for General Convention at the bottom. I recommend typing in the word Resolutions; then hit search. You will be able to see all the various resolutions under consideration by both Houses and see what is changing in each resolution as the legislative committees act on them. Explore! Dig around and see what you learn! Pray for our Bishop and Delegates as well as the entire Episcopal Church.
Lastly, continue to do those things during this summer which spiritually, mentally, and physically renew you. Allow yourself to recreate in a variety of ways.
I pray that the Spirit moves through all of us with the life breath of God so that we can embrace with baptismal "awe and wonder" what each new day brings.
Faithfully with you on the way,
Terri+
