Help build a school in Mexico

If you'd like to help our neighbors in Mexico finish a school building, and relish hands-on work, delicious food and a breathtaking desert environment, there's an opportunity coming up with a week-long trip next month through our partner, Rio Grande Borderland Ministries.

The school is in the tiny village of Jaboncillos in northern Coahuila state, just south of Big Bend National Park. Holy Spirit parishioners and others made a similar work trip there last April and had a great experience. The upcoming trip starts in El Paso on April 16 and ends on April 24.

According to trip leader Rusty Nelson, who has made dozens of work trips to the area, "We will be finishing a school building, painting walls, putting in insulation to the inside ceiling, doing activities with kids and adults, praying with families and building community."

Participants pay their own way to El Paso and for food and lodging on this side of the border. The cost in Mexico is $500, for food, lodging, and a share of the building materials.

For more information, please contact Clem Work ( ), who went on last year's trip, or chaplain Ana Reza ( ) in El Paso.
